We're doing it again, this time after dinner

Our first Youth Disc Golf morning on August 1 went down so well that the verdict from the field was unanimous: more please. See how round one went →

Disc golf is like golf with flying discs, walk the field, aim for the chain basket, and count your throws. It's easy to pick up, gets kids running around outside, and it's a blast. Alberta Youth Disc Golf is on a mission to develop tomorrow's disc golfers, and their trained summer coaches are bringing a portable basket and a few hundred discs right to our park.

Two one-hour evening sessions, a mix of simple teaching and games. This round is open to ages 6 to 12, so older siblings can join too. No experience and no equipment needed, and you don't have to be an SHCA member. Just pick a session below and reserve a spot for your kid.

Participation waiver & release

I am the parent/legal guardian of the child(ren) above and give permission for them to take part in the Alberta Youth Disc Golf session hosted by the Signal Hill Community Association on August 15, 2026. I understand disc golf is a physical activity involving thrown discs and running, and I accept the ordinary risks involved. On behalf of my child(ren) and myself, I release the Signal Hill Community Association, the Alberta Youth Disc Golf Society, and their volunteers and staff from liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation, except that caused by gross negligence. I confirm my child(ren) can take part, and I remain responsible for their supervision at the event. My printed name and drawn signature below act as my signature.

What to bring

Good to know

Does my child need to be a member or know how to play?

Nope. It's free and open to everyone, and it's built for complete beginners. The coaches teach the basics through games.

My kid came to the August 1 one. Can they come again?

Absolutely. Repeat throwers are welcome, and the coaches will push them a bit further this time.

How many kids per session?

Up to 16 per session so everyone gets coaching and throws. Once a session fills, its button will show "Full", grab the other one.

Do parents stay?

Yes, please. Parents/guardians stay at the park and are responsible for supervising their own kids. It's a great chance to watch them learn a new sport (and maybe try a throw yourself).

Will it still be light out?

Yes. Mid-August the sun doesn't set in Calgary until around 8:45 PM, so even the 7 PM group finishes with plenty of light.

What if it rains?

Light weather, we play. If it's unsafe, we'll email everyone who registered about a postponement, so keep an eye on your inbox.
