Volunteer thank-you · Thu June 25, 2026 · Recap

You showed up. we said thanks.

On Thursday, June 25 we took over a corner of Lennox Irish Pub with the neighbours who flooded the rink, ran the cleanup tents, painted faces at Neighbour Day, and stayed up for the casino count. Food and the first couple of rounds were on us. It is the one night a year that is just about you, and you filled the room. Thank you, truly.

SHCA volunteers gathered at Lennox Irish Pub for Volunteer Appreciation Night, June 25, 2026
Volunteer Appreciation Night at Lennox Irish Pub, June 25, 2026. Thank you for showing up.
Thank you

You're the reason this place works.

Every SHCA event is run by neighbours who showed up, the rink floods, the cleanup line-up, the bouncing castles, the casino count room at 2 AM. None of it is paid. All of it stops without you. On June 25 we got everyone in one room with food and drinks, said thanks properly, and traded stories about whose tent collapsed first.

We were also glad to welcome Ward 6 City Councillor John Pantazopoulos, who stopped by to say hello and talk through the neighbourhood issues on residents' minds. Thank you, Councillor, for taking the time.

What to expect

Casual. Free for volunteers. come hungry.

Who's invited

If you helped, you're in.

If you contributed time to SHCA in the past 12 months, rink floods, event setup, board roles, cleanup shifts, bake sale, casino prep, vendor table coordination, kids-zone supervising, photography, whatever, this night is for you.

Not sure if you count? You count. Email info@shca.ca and we'll add you to the invite list.

Saturdays in yellow vests. Thursdays in count rooms. All worth it.

That's a wrap.

Thank you to everyone who came out, and to every volunteer who gave us a reason to throw the party in the first place. If you volunteered this past year and we somehow missed you, we owe you a drink, email John and we'll make it right. Otherwise, we'll see you next June.
